On December 15, Hickman Fire & Rescue responded to the 20000 block of Homestead Expressway, just after 7 p.m., on reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, a camper, located approximately 20′ from the residence was fully engulfed in flames. Members from the HVFD quickly attacked the flames during hazardous wind conditions, stopping the spread to the residence. As a result, the residence sustained minor damage. HVFD would like to thank their mutual aid partners SW Volunteer Fire Department and Crete Fire and Rescue for their very swift and professional response. The cause of the fire is under investigation conducted by the Nebraska State Fire Marshalls Office.
